| Review
of program for TJC and state compliance and good disaster
management practices. Is your Hazard Vulnerability Analysis
sound (many are not) and does your written plan address
priority emergencies in a detailed and comprehensive manner;
all four phases of emergency management for each priority
emergency? Do equipment, supplies, training, drills and
memorandums of understanding reflect your priority emergencies?
Do you have a planning document addressing near-term and
long-term objectives? Are leadership (including physician)
involvement, funding and staffing adequate? Do you have
a sound surge capacity plan and is your flu pandemic planning
well underway? |

| We
helped develop the first HEICS-based Disaster Manual in
1993 for a California hospital system. Since then, we
have written many emergency management manuals, customized
to the particular codes and response plans of each facility.
Review of existing procedures, detailed process analysis,
recommendation of best practices and the use of flowcharts
and checklists with each new policy combine to create
a well-organized, effective and efficient resource manual.
We have developed manuals and quick response guides for
large and small facilities, merged organizations and multi-campus
medical centers. Currently, we are assisting with the
development of surge capacity and flu pandemic plans. |

| Cameron
Bruce Associates helps hospitals with all aspects of planning,
conducting and critiquing drills. During the preparation
for an exercise we help by attending planning meetings,
evaluating potential drill scenarios and developing support
documentation. We will research the selected scenario
and develop scripts to include realistic incident timeframes
and impacts. We can act as controller or evaluator during
drills. Post drill, we help develop after-action reports,
action plans and recommendations for future testing. Are
you prepared to address the tough new standards that took
effect in 2006? |
